* Wait! Jeremy Lin is Not Black?!

Floyd Mayweather said New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin is getting attention not because of his play, but because of his race. The boxing icon said if Lin, an Asian American, were black, he wouldn’t get the same praise. Lin, in response, said if he were indeed black, he’d be afraid to fight Manny Pacquiao, too.

Lin, in response, said “if he were indeed black, he’d be afraid to fight Manny Pacquiao, too.”

Sounds racist on Jeremy Lin’s part. Did you get the quote right?
You should add the context to get the meaning right!

Who are the editors’ for this site??

An Explanation of Jeremy Lin’s Statement.

“The boxing icon said if Lin, an Asian American, were black, he wouldn’t get the same praise. Lin, in response, said if he were indeed black, he’d be afraid to fight Manny Pacquiao, too.” - Jeffrey Boswell? Sports Central

It’s precious little context but I don’t think Jeremy was trying to be racist when he made his comment:

1.) Floyd was drawing a comparison between Black NBA players and the one Asian NBA player who is getting so much media attention.

Floyd insists that there is a double standard. Black NBA players who do just as well as Lin don’t get the same attention because they are Black. Jeremy Lin is getting all the media coverage simply because he is Asian.

Given the double standard that Floyd pointed out, Jeremy responded with, “if he (Jeremy Lin) were indeed black, he’d be afraid to fight Manny Pacquiao, too.”

2.) THAT IS TO SAY, Jeremy Lin is pointing out that there is NO DOUBLE STANDARD to him as to who should fear fighting Manny Pacquiao.

Fighters, Black or Asian (or whatever race for that matter) should be afraid to fight Manny Pacquiao simply because he’s a great fighter.

Floyd should just consider himself like all the others; afraid to fight the best. And stop attacking Asian athletes when they do well!!!
