USA Today names Manny Pacquiao 'Fighter of the Year' for 2010

Let the 2010 accolades for Manny Pacquiao start rolling in. Boxing’s top pound for pound boxer has become a fixture among end of the year awards for the last several years. And this year, will be no different. In fact, USA Today has already labeled Manny Pacquiao the best fighter in 2010.

“Pacquiao was elected to congress in his native Philippines in May, and amid endless distractions, the world’s top pound-for-pound fighter fought twice at Cowboys Stadium before close to 100,000 fans. He nearly shut out two of the toughest fighters around in Joshua Clotteyand Margarito, giving up 5 inches and 17 pounds to Margarito. For excelling while serving his people on two continents, Pacquiao is USA TODAY’s fighter of the year.” Bob Velin, USA Today

It’s hard to disagree with Mr. Velin. Nobody in the history of Boxing has done what Manny did this year. Between 2 fights and a Congressional victory, Manny has become an icon worldwide. His humbled demeanor and willingness to help others has won him over…
