Pacquiao, Mosley head for high-altitude training

MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley are both heading to the mountains for high-altitude training as they rev up for their May 7 world welterweight title clash at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao is setting up camp in Baguio City sometime in the second or even third week of March while Mosley is kicking off his own build-up at around the same time as well in Big Bear, California.

Big Bear is a resort town in the San Bernardino mountains of Southern California that is 88 miles (141 kilometers) from downtown Los Angeles.

While Baguio has an elevation of 5,100 feet, Big Bear is even higher at 7,000 feet although there are certain areas in the scenic mountain range that can reach up to 9,000 feet above sea level.

Big Bear has been Mosley’s training headquarters since 1996 and he will tag along what he labels as his ‘‘tribe” there in March in what will go down as the biggest fight of his stellar career.
