Official Statement from Pacquiao Website.

Manny Pacquiao has never stated that anyone in the Gay Community deserved death.

His statements were taken out of context, and were not his opinion.

Pacquiao is simply against the marriage of anyone that is not Man and Woman as he believes is stated in theBible.

“I didn’t say that, that’s a lie… I didn’t know that quote from Leviticus because I haven’t read the Book of Leviticus yet,” he said.

Pacquiao does not now and has never believed that people deserve death because of their sexual orientation.

“I didn’t say that, that’s a lie… I didn’t know that quote from Leviticus because I haven’t read the Book of Leviticus yet,” he said.

^Ok then. Get your bible out, turn to the verse and read it. It blatantly said that gay people should be put to death. And yet this..

“Pacquiao does not now and has never believed that people deserve death because of their sexual orientation.”

^Your belief… contradicts what’s written in the book you blindly follow.

This whole mess started because of an ignorant fool and bad journalism.

Pacquiao didn’t even mention Leviticus, the whole mess started from a FILIPINO examiner blogger.

Mr. Ampong is now making some damage control.

This is the article that spreaded like a wildfire in the web.

I’m not a big fan of Boxing (sorry), but I am a fan of men who stand up for the Word of God. You’re remark was not hate-filled (in my opinion). I commend you for standing up for what you believe to be the truth. Unfortunately, people will only hear what they want to hear.

If I were a Boxing fan, I would cheer for you.

Attention Manny Pacquiao
RE: MARRIAGE
This is America, not the Phillipines, China or Iran. This is America, a nation conceived in liberty and justice for all people.
The GREATNESS of America is that the freedom of speech, religion, and other fundamental rights are to be protected and secured in this country. As a result, in America, many religions exist; the American people are free to choose or not choose; to believe or practice a specific religious doctrine; and no one is FORCED to accept the religion beliefs or ideas of others.
America is not a THEOLOGY. So, just as I chose Christianity, I respect the RIGHT of others in America to be able to choose or not choose a religious doctrine or make other decisions based on their beliefs. This, however, does not mean that I agree or disagree with the decision made. Hence, in America, we should be able to treat all people fairly with dignity and respect without violating our own RELIGIOUS beliefs and the principles of this nation. Not only should we treat same-sex couples with respect, they should treat others the same way.
Respectfully, you are not God. Different cultures reflect different values. In America, people have the right to formulate their own decisions based on their beliefs and ideas. So, neither you or President Obama have the authority (none, zero, nada) to define or redefine MARRIAGE for another person in any way.
Historically, MARRIAGE is perceived as a RELIGIOUS value, a sacred covenant to glorify God. MARRIAGE was defined in religious doctrines many many centuries before the founding of this nation. During that time MARRIAGE was designed to be the core foundation of this earthly society. Now, in America people have the right to accept or not accept this belief or other religious doctrines. This is why in America it is so very important that we separate church and state.
Frankly, the government needs to stay out of all Religious Affairs. On this very important issue, each individual must make this decision based on his own faith or beliefs. Again, I respect a person’s right to make their own decisions. This does not mean that I agree or disagree with the decision made, but respect their right to make the decision. So, this is where we are today.
The President, Elected Officials, Community and Religious Leaders, including Members of the Gay Community, need to continue to work together to find the best way to peacefully resolve this divisive issue for this great nation, for the country, for the people. Also, let us remember that there are passages in the Bible that prohibit divorced men from remarrying; prohibit men from cutting their hair; that forbid anyone from wearing mixed fiber clothing; eating shellfish, or planting two kinds of seeds in their fields. The Bible commands slaves to obey their masters; women to submit to their husbands; parents to stone unruly children, and upholds as heroes of faith men with multiple wives. So, in our struggle to resolve these issues of today, let us remember that God loves all of us; to keep God in the forefront, and resolve to treat everyone fairly with respect and dignity
Third, let’s also remember Matthew 22:21 where Jesus said “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar; and unto God, the things that are God’s “. So, if same-sex couples do not accept that this solemn covenant with God that MARRIAGE is a union between one man and one woman, one solution may be for same-sex couples to select another custom or use another term, other than MARRIAGE, to describe their relationships. Then, leave this matter to God and the individuals involved. It is also imperative that in America, the legal rights of same-sex couples to property and other benefits are secured and protected; that all people are treated with dignity and respect.
The traditional marriage may or may not be right for all people (I Corinthian 7); but considering the historic influence of religion on individuals’ lives, I do agree that this tradition should be respected:
According to a nearly universal consensus, CHRISTIANS view marriage as a sacred covenant ordained by God for a lifelong union of one MAN and one WOMAN, a solemn covenant between a couple and God (Matthew 19). The PRIMARY purpose of accepting the sacrament of the Christian Marriage is to glorify God; to symbolize a relationship between CHRIST and The Church; to present the image and glory of God in one unit, one flesh, for the procreation and education of CHILDREN. This marriage theme runs throughout the Bible from the start of Genesis to end of Revelation. Let’s not forget, God understood that it would be difficult for man to follow his WORD; this is why Jesus Christ died for us—to give man a chance for salvation (Matthew 19, Mark 16).
As a Christian, I accept this religion doctrine; but, I also respect the right of others to make their own decision based on their faith or belief. In a civil society, regardless of a person’s ideas on same-sex marriage, we should respect and treat all people fairly with dignity and respect
This is America! This is America, a nation established upon the principles of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, etc; equality, humanity, and justice for all people. This is America, Sweet Land of Liberty! We all must always strive and fight to protect the legal rights and other benefits of all individuals; to treat all people fairly with respect and dignity; moreover, we should be able to do this without jeopardizing our own religious values.
So, this issue is about Christians or other people of faith STRIVING each day to perfect our lives and follow The WORD of God. This should not be about violating any individual’s legal rights to property and other earthly benefits.
Peace Across America and The World

Well, you know that TATTOOS are also expressly forbidden in the same book of the Bible: Leviticus. Don’t you love how Christians pick and choose what they’re willing to obey? It’s always SOMEONE ELSE who’s the sinner. How about Matthew 7:5 “You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

Comment by Archie Higgins — May 16, 2012 @ 11:47 am

I love the fact you said what you said, and yes I wasn’t their..I’m old enough to
know that the most intolerable people are the very ones that think they know
the most about tolerance and are hear on earth to teach it..I don’t know what their problem is and don’t care..It’s sad to me that the white race, and yes I’m white, are such cowards that they will not stand their ground..
So thanks again for being a great champion not only in the ring, but for being
a man..

unfortunately our own governments leaders do not share such courage.

I don’t even watch fighting, but I respect your right to believe what you want to believe. It’s sad that the gay community cries for tolerance…that is a bunch of hypocrisy because they refuse to be tolerant to anyone who does not agree with gay marriage and not only that, they become evil and vicious attackers of anyone who speaks openly against gay marriage. That is called discrimination!! All people should be able to speak what they believe without being attacked.

Its easy to get distracted these days from the real problems in society especially when we have hyper-sensitive cultures and sub-cultures which react with such vehement voracity on perceived attacks on their beliefs or ways of life. In reference to Leviticus, before you make comments on such a book please do your research. Don’t blindly take one verse from a book and then create a summary about it. David, in reference to your comment about country, you no longer have a country. Do your research, read your constitution and then look into all the practices your government has undertaken. I’ll give you a hint most are illegal and you’ve done nothing about this, nor will you ever do anything about this because all they have to do is toss something controversial out in the air to blind you from whats happening. My advice to all, do your research, read, learn and empower yourselves.

at first I was outraged about what I had THOUGHT Pacquiao said about Homosexuals be put to death. According to what I’m reading now, those words did not come out of his mouth. It came from a reporter that nobody in their right minds has ever heard of. This is the same reporter that has made many “Enquirer” style stories that people tend to believe. The man that wrote the article is homophobic himself and believes that homosexuals be put to death. He was also heard making homophobic remarks towards other writers during the build up to Margarito Pacquiao in Dallas. It amazes me how people are quick to judge Pacquiao as the man that said, “all homosexuals be put to death.” Now these mis-informed idiots are taking a false story, running with it and putting their own twist on it. If you want to hate Pacquiao because you thought he said homosexuals should be put to death, by some homophobic writer that told a lie, then so be it. However if you want to hate Pacquiao because he said he disagrees with President Obama on gay marrige, AND DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT HOMOSEXUALS SHOULD BE PUT TO DEATH DUE TO THEIR SEXUAL ORIENTATION, then you have a valid point to hate him on THAT because it came from himself.

Comment by Anna Hoffmaster — May 16, 2012 @ 3:50 pm

“Pacquiao is simply against the marriage of anyone that is not Man and Woman as he believes is stated in theBible.”

I commend Mr. Pacquiao on his honesty and strong belief in trusting and believing God’s word. The book of Leviticus is clear on this issue and it is in the Old Testament. Thanks be to Jesus Christ that He loves us unconditionally; but, that does not make same sex marriage or relationships right. I will stand tall with Mr. Pacquiao on this issue…..Lord knows, I will need some lessons to protect myself. You know what the little old saying is…..” When God made Adam, He made Eve….NOT STEVE!!!” Thank you God because I love the feeling of a man close to me, the smell, the touch, the voice, etc.

God does not make mistakes!!! Man from the beginning of time has caused all the changes that have ever occurred by man’s disobedience!! Bottom Line! Yes, including the changes in DNA and so on!!! Save it….I have a one track mind….God Set!!! Oh yes, and I am a sinner and I am glad Christ has that covered!!!!

We support your belief Manny. We believe that many were “born in sin” and they simply need to be born again. Jesus is our Redeemer and can make possible what the world deems impossible. I pray that all of us that are living in sin, simply ask God for forgiveness, ask Jesus to enter their heart, forgive those who have hurt us and repent so that we may be born again and live a life according to His word. May God continue to bless your good works in Jesus name.

Comment by ME — May 16, 2012 @ 5:50 pm

It is amazing that “freedom of Speech” is only for people who support same sex marriage and not for those who oppose it. Quoting from THE BIBLE is no crime, it is expressing what GOD said, (freedom of religion) just like other GROUPS OR INDIVIDUALS have freedom of religion, freedom of speech, etc… so do CHRISTIANS, if anyone has a problem with anything that is written in THE BIBLE, we will all face GOD one day and he will judge accordingly. GOD ordained marriage and marriage is between a MAN and a WOMAN. This country is no different than any other country in the world where CHRISTIANS are persecuted. We are all sinners, there is not one that is not, the difference between a CHRISTIAN sinner and a non believer is that the Christian believes in CHRIST as his/her savior and repents from their sins and lives their live to glorify GOD in all that he/she does and the non believers in CHRIST, keep sinning and live their lives without any fear of GOD, All sins are forgiven in CHRIST, once you come to THE LORD CHRIST, merciful is HE to forgive.
THE GROVE is not tolerant to “freedom of speech”.

MANNY PACQUIAO you have better things to do then to be giving interviews to people who violate your freedom of speech.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion I’m quite sure that even gays and lesbians would agree. One man’s opinion shouldn’t be taken that seriously to the point that you end-up “crucifying” him. Even my wife and i have a different opinion about this very touchy subject. Pacquiao lives in the Philippines where most people are Christians (~85%). As an elected Congressman it only makes sense that he has the same beliefs as most Christians have. He’s also in the entertainment business (in his country) where a lot of gay people are actively involved and most likely he has a very close relationship with them. I believe he does not hate gays or lesbians he merely stated his opinion, which he is very much entitled to. He did not just wake-up one morning and decided to comment about this very sensitive subject, his opinion was asked so he gave it. In my opinion, we should respect everybody regardless of SEX, RELIGION OR NATIONALITY and accept them for what they are, with that said, RESPECT everybody’s opinion as well.

God bless you, Manny, for your faithfulness! Stand firm, Brother… after the Lord returns (which we know He will do imminently), EVERY knee WILL bow, and a great number of jaws WILL drop when they realize the lies that they have believed and defended.

You have my prayers and support!

Food for thought & consideration, fellow & sister commenters: consider all of Creation and notice that there are no other species that practice homosexuality. True, a male animal will demonstrate what some purport to be a sexual act; however, it is nothing more than an alpha male demonstrating his dominative status within his social structure.

Yes, Leviticus is in the Bible - but it’s at the beginning. God did punish this behaviour - why? Because He likes to kill? NO. Because He loves His creation and wants to preserve it the way He created it to be. He is the Almighty Creator. Who are we to say what is right or wrong?! So we learn in this Bible book God took it very seriously to preserve sexual activity for man and woman in a loving relationship within marriage.

Now, why would we say that Leviticus law to kill does not apply today? Because Jesus came to save His people from this sin too - and God hates the death of a sinner! He longs for us to love Him and honour Him - not because He forces us to, but because He is a loving Father and longs for us to live in a healthy relationship with Him.

So - I do not believe death to those who practice homosexuality is the answer - but the government will be held accountable for their laws. THEY ARE TO DEFEND THE CHURCH AND THEREBY PROTECT THE WORLD FROM DEVIATION AND THE MISERY IT BRINGS!

God will send His Son again - this time in victory!! In humility we should all be encouraging eachother for this great Day!!

God’s strength to all those who defend His great Name!!

Its funny how those that commented here blindly believed what was supoosedly said by manny. Read what he said, and read the follow up reports and articles, the writer who published his interview with manny already admitted that he (the writer) was the one that quoted leviticus, and NOT MANNY. You idiots need to do more investigatory work before you open your mouths or start typing stupid comments. It goes to show how idiots jump into hating a person. word to the wise think before you express to the world how stupid you really are. Manny an amazing individual, its true one hates who he can only hope to be.
