Pacquiao-Mosley We All Hoped For & Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Vs Zbik

By Timothy James,

10:00pm May 7th 2011 I was sitting with the press on the floor of the MGM Grand Arena. The fight was over.

I looked to my left and saw Michael Marley hard at work plucking the keys on his computer keyboard like a rooster stomping the ground right before he is let loose to do battle. I asked MIke, “So what did you think of the fight? Michael Mareley replied. “It was boring.”

I think I remember him saying, “It was exactly what the fans predicted.” but I can’t be sure, because those were the only thoughts filling my mind. Maybe it was me that said it.

I watched Marely pluck away, as I walked away.

I let out a yawn and thought to myself, This the first time I have ever heard anyone boo at a Pacquiao fight.

Why does his advisor allow these match ups to occur?

Less then 48 hours later my adrenaline started pumping again. I was at the apartment of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and the loud voice of Alex Ariza filled the air of the hallways. “I don’t care if he is asleep!” Wake him up NOW” In came Ariza a man with a mission. Within minutes Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was up and about. There is no quit in this kid, and like Pacquiao, he does not like anyone to tell him what to do.

He would rather do it right the first time, so he does not have to be told twice.

If anyone has ever questioned this kids work ethic or heart you can put it to rest right now. He has one of the biggest hearts in the sport and his work ethic is second to none. If you do not believe me then check out the videos on mpboxing.com yourself. We have been filming his training since day one and this kid is impressive.

On June 4th 2011 he squares off against Zbik at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. where he is expected to be a fan favorite. The smart money is on a knockout in this fight.

These are two warriors and they will clash in the middle of the ring and the best man will be left standing. There will be no running.

Click the  two separate video links to watch Ariza and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. show how it is done.

Once again, Pacquiao/Mosley was only “boring” because of the unrealistic hype it had to try to live up to. Everyone was hoping we’d see a 27 year old Shane Mosley trading bombs with the P4P, Punch 4 Punch and Round 4 Round King.

I just re-watched the Mayweather/Marquez fight even though Floyd’s performance was brilliant, that fight was way more boring than Pacquiao/Mosley. Floyd threw about 30 punches per round at 50-60% connect rate. 30 punches and about 70% of those punches are jabs? *yawn*. It’s expectations. Pacquiao Mosley certainly didn’t live up to the epic fight of the decade they hyped it to be, but it was still an exciting fight simply watching Pacquiao’s speed, power, and skill. Marquez was completely washed up. He’s going to lose very badly in the 3rd fight with Pacquiao because we’re not going to see the Marquez at 130 pounds at 28 years old. We’re going to see a 144 pound 38 year old Marquez!! Once again, anyone who expects another fight of the decade cuz its JMM/Pacquiao 3 will be disappointed when Pacquiao completely dominates JMM and then they’re gonna say the fight was “boring”.

BTW, who’s win was more impressive? Mayweather beating up a 14 pound heavier and slower aging Marquez at 35 yrs old or Pacquiao completely annihilating a lighter and older 35 year old Dela Hoya?

I’ve always been a critic of Julio ,but I think I’m intrested in how he will perform in this fight.

@breakaway2x agree.

I just got done re-watching Hopkins-Taylor I. If you wanna see a boring fight, that’s it. Yet, the broadcast team did the best they could to gloss over the fact that it was boring.

Even the Ward-Abraham fight the following week was a snoozer.

People have such high expectations of Pacquiao’s fight, because the man is so incredible that he has set the bar for excitement impossibly high.

People should just appreciate this living legend while he’s here, as he won’t be here for much longer.

I mean, people are still dumping on this fight (Dan *cough* Rafael), and it makes no sense when there have been plenty of turd fights that they desperately try to polish (Mayweather-De La Hoya, Mayweather-Marquez, any fight involving Andre Ward, etc).

It’s becoming more and more apparent that the people who are excessively dumping on the fight are the ones who were against the fight in the first place, and were looking for ANY reason to disparage the fight, even if it means being hypocritical.

Whatever.

They booed Mosely Pacquiao because Mosely kept hyping a knockout. The crowd expected for Mosely to throw haymakers all night at Manny until either he got the KO or he got KOed.

Lately every time Manny fights and we don’t see a knockout or a hellacious exchange of punches we get disappointed. I remember getting disappointed on the occasions when Barrera fought defensively, Hoya quit on his stool, Cotto started backpedaling and Manny eased up on Margarito. Seems like we, myself included, have become bloodthirsty every time Manny fights, just like the Romans of old when they watched gladiators fight to the death.
