Who is Gilbert Brown and What Can He Do for the Celtics?

It’s no secret that the Boston Celtics are going to have get younger, a fact Danny Ainge knows all too well. Ainge recently said as much on WEEI, and fans like me are well aware that the upcoming season will almost certainly be the last hurrah for the big three. This year’s draft was arguably a good haul, with Purdue’s top two scorers joining the Cs, including big man JaJuan Johnson(notes). Gilbert Brown could be yet another solid offseason addition.

While Brown went undrafted, he was reportedly a major contender when it came to the Cs’ second round pick. At 55th overall, the decision ultimately went to Johnson’s teammate E’Twaun Moore(notes), but Brown has been in communication with the Cs amid the possibility of a free-agent deal. Brown told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazettethat he was “talking to [the Celtics] all day. They said it was the flip of a coin when it came time to make the pick.”
