Floyd Sr: Marquez won’t last 12 rounds vs Pacquiao

MANILA, Philippines – The father of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. thinks an aging Juan Manuel Marquez won’t stand a chance against Manny Pacquiao.

“He’s old, man. They haven’t fought each other in over 3 years,” Floyd Mayweather Sr. told

He said that the 37-year-old Marquez won’t be able to give Pacquiao the same fight that they had in previous occasions.

Marquez, one of the best technical boxers to come out of Mexico, gave Pacquiao 2 of his toughest career fights.

The Mexican champion fought the Filipino superstar to controversial draw in 2004. Pacquiao then won a split decision against Marquez 4 years later.

“Pacquiao may stop him this time,” Mayweather Sr. said.

Mayweather Sr. claimed that Marquez’s boxing skills have shown signs of deterioration during the recent years.

“It’s clear which fighter is the more damaged since they last fought… it’s showed in his last couple of fights,” he said.
