Fernando Vargas Favors Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley Drug Tests

Former IBF junior middleweight (154 pounds) world champion, Fernando Vargas, is well aware that steroids became a major topic of discussion in boxing, in particular, and, that it intensified over the course of sports, in general, during the year 2010.

The issue apparently won’t be going anywhere anytime soon judging from a Jan. 24 issue of Sports Illustrated that is reporting that famous cyclist, Lance Armstrong, was caught with drugs by Swiss customs officials in 2003, and that the seven-time Tour de France champ tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone on three occasions.

Vargas recently expressed his opinion about the subject of Olympic style drug testing, this, years after having tested positive for stanozozol following his 11th-round knockout loss to Oscar De La Hoya in Las Vegas in September 2002.

“In the sport of boxing, it should be like a given that you’re going to be doing drug testing — whether it’s blood and urine, I have no problem with that,” said Vargas, a Las Vegas resident.
