What in the world is happening to the sport of boxing?
A few months ago boxing began its ride through a twisted macabre world of blindness, incompetence, and academy award performances. It is like we are caught in “Groundhog Day” and boxing fans are now taking the lead role from Bill Murray.
Every Sunday morning I awaken to report on yet another strange and questionable bout that seems to revolve around HBO supported cards.
What is truly confusing is who will win this year’s biggest farce award in our sport, and boy are there some great ones to choose from;
The Three Blind Judges from New Jersey from the Lara-Williams fight.
Russell Mora the referee that got things all wrong from Mares-Agbeko
Jose Sulaiman of the WBC, who let the IBF show him up by failing to order a rematch in Lara fight, as the IBF did for Mares-Agbeko.
Floyd “I’m so bad, I’m good” Mayweather Jr. for his version of “Look over there, is that a camera, Victor” Whap, Bang….
Victor “Huggie Bear” Ortiz for his rendition of “Mayweather/Ortiz; A love story”
Joe Cortez for “I’m firm but I’m distracted” and “Protect yourself at all times because I’m busy”
Now, we have the newly nominated Bernard Hopkins for his “roll” in putting a huge question mark on the fittingly named, “Believe it or not”. Is it just me or is the name of the promotion just too good to be true, won’t the Saturday Night Live crew and every late night show in the world have fun with this one.
Congratulations goes to Chad Dawson for winning this title, but the look on his face as Hopkins was rolling about the ring was priceless; he was just as baffled then, as I was this morning when I saw the fight.
Linares was the winner of his bout by a long margin but the title went to Antonio DeMarco. I believe it was a head-butt that so bloodied the nose of Jorge that he couldn’t see. Another case of where was the referee on that one, should have been Joe Cortez as the third man, he catches those head butts. Congrats to DeMarco for a great 11th round.
I don’t know what is happening to the world of boxing, the closer we get to Halloween the stranger it gets, almost like HBO and promoters are conspiring against the Pacquiao-Marquez fight. It is going to be difficult to convince people, who shelled out big money for Mayweather-Ortiz, then Hopkins-Dawson, to once again take a chance on HBO and hand them another check.
Well those of you that purchased last night’s fight, I am so sorry for your waste of funds during this bad economy. I choose not to, and instead went and saw “Real Steel”, which by the way had the best fight scenes since the first two Pacquiao-Marquez fights.
“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me”
That is until next month when I shell out to HBO for to watch Pacquiao. To paraphrase one MP8 forum poster “Boxing is like crack” and I’m definitely addicted.
Manny Pacquiao and other members of Team Pacquiao, including our own MP8 staff, attended the Staples Center last night and I’m dying to hear their ringside take on the drama and controversy that occurred.
Keep in touch and I’ll bring you what I can ASAP!
Ciao!

And the OSCAR goes to…… Bernard is at it again! He did it with Calzaghe and with Roy Jones 2 fight. He is definitely looking for a way out. He figured that Dawson was just too strong and gave up!
Truth be told. Now a days you can claim to be hurt even if you’re not.So many insurance scams now a days especially in a car accidents. People can get a Doctors note that you were hurt even if you’re not!
So Bernard stop faking! Another robbery from boxing and PPV buyers suffers once again!
