Welcome Everyone coming over from PACLAND!!
Now That Pacland is getting the updates on my blog, I wanted to do a quick re-cap on why Manny Pacquiao will be at his best come May 7Th 2011. These are two keys that we focus on during training. These two keys are just a part of the total equation of success. We will be writing all of the keys to success for everyone to read and learn. We will be combining past articles with future articles so when new people join in they can be caught up with what we have previously spoke about.
Water Hydration How important is it…
Probably more important than anyone imagined. Did you know that water will actually help your joints from inflammation?
Maintaining proper hydration can do far more for your body than just helping you lose weight. Fluid intake will promote circulation and help to reduce the toxicity that leads to joint inflammation. Believe it or not, I believe that water is one of the biggest ways to relieve joint pain.
It can also play a huge part with preventing Arthritis. Rheumatoid joint pain – arthritis – is a signal of water shortage in the painful joint that you are feeling. It can affect the young and the old. Arthritis is most commonly known as something older people get, but it is not. Many pregnant woman experience this, as well as athletes, young or old.
Shortage of water can cause lower back pain, because of the dehydration in the joint cavities.
Without enough water and other fluids, you’ll die within the week. Although water does not provide energy in the same way carbohydrates and fat do, it plays a very important role in energy transformation. Water is the medium in which all energy reactions take place. Therefore, you need to drink a lot of water for health, stamina, fuel, and building muscle. Drinking water for health is an important aspect of building muscle.
Water is everywhere in your body. Think of a shuttle carrying everything to where it needs to go. This is what water does. Water becomes the shuttle carrying the necessary nutrients to your cells and transporting waste in order to get it out of your body. Water basically fills every space in your body and helps form the structures we have spoke about regarding protein and glycogen. In order to move muscle, you need water.
Muscle is considered an active tissue and water is found in the highest concentrations in active tissue. Water is really found everywhere, but I want to highlight key areas you might not have thought about.
If your body is dehydrated, chances are you’re not going to have a very productive work out sessions. I mean how can you if your muscles are deprived of electrolytes.
Remember muscles are controlled by nerves. The electrical stimulation of nerves and contraction of muscles are the result of the exchange of electrolyte minerals dissolved in water. It’s essential that you drink water for health and building muscle, and to relieve yourself from joint pain.
Without enough water, your muscles are not getting enough electrolytes.
Water also helps out with the lubrication of your joints. Water is an ingredient in the makeup of the synovial fluid, which is the lubricating fluid between your joints.
During a workout, Manny Pacquiao’s body goes through a stressful event. During this stressful event his body begins to release cortisol. We need to counteract the body feeling stressed. We do not want it to begin eating off itself. Since your body is now depleted after a workout it will be looking for somewhere to find calories to burn. The first place it will look is from the muscle.
By making sure Pacquiao gets adequate protein and amino acids will help to prevent any negative effects we do not want to happen.
The body is also depleted of glucagen after a workout, so when you eat your first meal with white rice and fruits it will cause a good insulin spike, carrying those amino acids to the muscle cells.
When we do a protein shake immediately after eating it is to make sure Manny Pacquiao gets enough protein. For someone to think it is a waste of protein, because they have also consumed some beef or chicken is dead wrong.
First, the protein powder will get absorbed first, because it is broken down in the body the faster.
So when you your chicken is breaking down in your body, that white rice you just ate has turned to sugar, causing insulin to be released, and is transporting all those amino acids from the protein powder to the awaiting muscle bellies. We are preventing too much muscle breakdown and any unnecessary stress in the body. This causes the cortisol to stop being produced and allows your body to begin its process of healing when you get your next rest.
A short period of time after Pacquiao’s body has utilized all the protein from the protein powder the chicken and or beef.has digested and it is it’s turn to be utilized in the body for all of it’s caloric intake purposes. It is my opinion the protein from the foods will now digest easier now that your body is calmed down.

I’ve always your blog Alex and this is the first time i made a comment. I also workout a lot but not like what athletes do and i have a lot of questions about everything fitness related. Your blog actually helped me a lot and it answered almost all my questions regarding “too much protein intake” “the importance of proper breathing during workout” “what foods to eat” and all the stuff that your write in your blog. I can’t thank you enough about the things you’ve shared and i hope you won’t get tired of doing it. BTW, team Khan should get you back ASAP cause he ain’t going nowhere without your expertise. His last performance absolutely s*cked his jab lacks quickness and power even his stamina itself. Well, its just an opinion.

Hey Alex, one question alot of people have been asking is:
Should we consume raw eggs Rocky style or not?
I’ve also heard that eggs in their rawest possible form are more nutritous as they don’t lose anything through cooking.
Cheers! Keep up the great work!

Great job Mr. Ariza. Keep up the good work, you certainly knows what you’re talking about. Pacman was lucky enough having you in his side. Aside from Freddie Roach and yourself, you made the Pacman what he is now. I hope with the consent and intervention of our Congressman Mr. Pacquiao, you can help our Philippine Sports Delegates to the future Olympics or any Sports Organization regarding Body Conditioning as this is one factor our delegates lack, stamina I guess. They (delegates)don’t have that power and stamina. I just pray that our Philippine Sport Officials are reading your blog too. I can see that sooner or later you’ll be a part of our Philippine Sport Development Organization as Conditioning Coach. More power to you, Mr. Ariza.

I was hopping you could give me some advice on weither it is still possible to get all the benifits and gains from my training with a vegan diet like the same you get with many on a normal diet. I also dont eat any products with white flour in and try to stay as natural as possible, i currently am gettin the my protean from beans, nuts and hemp seed powder. I take BCAA’s, cod liver oil, vitamins b5 & b7, beta-alamine, l-glutamine, L-Arginine and L-Ornithine as suplements, I also have alot of vegtable jucies. Your advice and oppinion on training intensily as a boxer on a vegan diet would be greatly apreciated, Thanks

Alex, have you ever considered Manny moving down to 140 pounds? I don’t think it would be a hard task for him since he loses weight quickly and wouldn’t stuff himself as much as he is now to maintain his weight.
I say this because he had incredibly KO power not just evident from the Hatton fight but from all the sparring stories and videos of him knocking out his sparring partners.
Unless he decides to unify belts or get the lineal/Ring title at welterweight, there is way more competition at 140!

I agree with Alex. I used to have sort of joint problem in my ankle. It was painful during morning and I could hardly step my foot. Then, I learn from a magazine about the water therapy. Then at the point, I made it a point to drink 8 glasses of water. At least 2-3 glasses in the morning and the rest were taken during the day. Voila, a week after my painful joint was gone. Until now I haven’t experienced that again. But since then that I got healed, I took my water regimen at the back seat again. But at least, reading Alex info about water re-ignited my habit to drink water once more at full capacity at least 8 glasses in a day, starting in the early morning.

nice article, very informative.
I remember one day i had a cold and i experimented myself to drink 40 glasses of water in a day and see what would happen without taking medicine. i thought it was not possible but tried anyway and scheduled my drinking 1 glass every after 15minutes. i started 7 am and went in and out of the restroom. That was a lot of peeing! Around 3pm my cold disappeared and i was well..
Since then i drink a lot of water in a day sometimes 8glasses a day and sometimes 10… 6 would be the least.
years after, i found out i never get sick too often. sometimes never get sick or catch a cold in a year. sometimes ones or twice but i never lay on bed.. i just drink lots of water and after a day or two i’m fine..
“Where there is water, there is life.” I thank God for it..

To Danny Maya and Adam,
Egg is a very good source of protein but you have to slightly cook it. It’s very difficult to digest it raw… but you don’t want to overcook it to a point that the cholesterol in the yolk will oxidize making it a bad cholesterol. The white of the egg has AVIDIN that prevents your body to absorb your B vitamins when eaten raw. Lightly cook it and you don’t have to worry about digestion and cholesterol turning bad.

To Cody300,
I’m a retiree and living on SS pension here in the US but I have the body of a 20-year old athlete because of my exercise regimen and proper nutrition. As to your question re protein, I use Whey Protein Powder Chocolate before and after work out. I buy it on the internet from LIFESOURCE NUTRITION. Just GOOGLE the name and you will get it. It’s a little bit more expensive but the quality and digestibility is second to none. The other but cheaper brands have more fillers and their amino acids are not complete. That one from Lifsource is perfect. It’s organic and undenatured (not subjected to heat).
Nice article Alex!
