Manny Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning trainer, Alex Ariza, is not impressed with the Filipino boxer’s next opponent, undefeated American junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley Jr.
In an interview with Fighthype.comAriza said Bradley will not have the power to hurt Pacquiao.
“He’s muscular and everything, but he hasn’t knocked anybody out in his division, or especially in the 147-pound division,” Ariza said.
Bradley is undefeated through his first 28 professional bouts, but has only won by knockout 12 times.
“He’s not even thought of as a puncher at 140, so how is gonna be thought of as a puncher at 147?””Ariza added.
Motivation
A greater concern for Ariza at this point is motivating Pacquiao to fight Bradley, especially as the Filipino boxer was looking forward to a rematch against Puerto Rican star Miguel Cotto.
“I think the hardest thing was, when the idea of Manny fighting Cotto was out there, I got a call from Manny talking ‘What are we going to do? How are we going to change everything? Come out here a month early, let’s start focusing on my strength and conditioning again,’” Ariza said.
But a rematch with Cotto was never realized after the Puerto Rican star opted to fight undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. instead.
